Johns Hopkins University Research Program Coordinator in Huntington, West Virginia

We are seeking a Research Program Coordinator who will implement protocols for a study aiming to understand the behavioral and interpersonal factors that contribute to HIV risk among people who inject drugs (PWID) in Cabell County, West Virginia. The Research Program Coordinator will oversee the administration and scientific implementation of a PWID cohort study with 18 months of follow up and the development and implementation of a risk reduction intervention. As a part of the study team, the Research Program Coordinator will collaborate with faculty, develop protocols/standard operating procedures, collaborate with research assistants, oversee all study-related activities, and be involved with data collection. The Research Program Coordinator will coordinate data collection activities with relevant staff and collaborators. The Research Program Coordinator will develop project management plans and closely monitor adherence to these plans by coordinating multiple faculty members from Johns Hopkins as well as health department partners and community-based organizations. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing IRB material and supporting survey instrumentation. The incumbent will support the development of peer-reviewed publications and support data quality checks. The incumbent must be able to work in-person in Huntington, WV.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the implementation of the study research protocol.

  • Responsible for project management, coordination of research and implementation teams, preparation of research manuscripts and other reports, and supervising staff.

  • Serve as a liaison with JHSPH and external partners.

  • Collaboratively develop research plans and study instruments with faculty and PI for IRB submission.

  • Manage IRB applications, amendments and manage IRB-related study communication.

  • Conducting oral HIV rapid testing and referring participants to related services at the health department as applicable. Training for administering HIV tests will be provided.

  • Oversee and develop protocol and SOP with the study team.

  • Oversee study-related activities, including community outreach, recruitment, data collection, and follow up.

  • Develop trainings for research assistants.

  • Organize and lead project meetings with the PI, faculty, and staff.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience managing projects and relationships with multiple stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated program management experience, along with strong protocol management skills.

  • Proficiency using software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.

  • Experience supervising other project team members.

  • Highly organized and excellent time management skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Comfortable working directly with people who use drugs.

  • Comfortable working in a health department facility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - 30.00 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday: 8:30 am – 5 pm
