Johns Hopkins University Sr. Research Program Coordinator II in Baltimore, Maryland

We are seeking a Sr Research Program Coordinator II to provide support to Dr. Julia Wolfson, an Associate Professor in the Department of International Health, Human Nutrition Program at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health on research related to food and nutrition policy, food security, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, food agency/cooking interventions, and other efforts to promote healthy and sustainable dietary patterns. The person in this position will work closely with the Principal Investigator to manage one large clinical trial focused on evaluating the effects of climate change menu labels on food choices and dietary quality and will have the opportunity to provide support on one or more other research studies, depending on interest and availability.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the administrative and scientific implementation of research protocol for research study/studies. As part of study team, collaborate with faculty, develop protocols, develop SOPs, and oversee study -related activities for one or more studies.

  • Communicate with study team members across multiple sites and coordinate research team meetings.

  • Assist with IRB submissions, including development and writing of protocols, consent forms, and other source materials.

  • Program and maintain data collection instruments in Qualtrics or RedCap.

  • Participate in the development, testing and evaluation of manuals, questionnaires, and coding structures for efficient collection and management of data.

  • Hire, train, and oversee day-to-day work of research assistants involved in participant recruitment/enrollment, data collection, data entry and preparation.

  • Conduct training sessions for research assistants and other study staff.

  • Meet regularly with the Principal Investigator to review data accuracy and overall study progress.

  • Participate in and oversee study staff during participant recruitment and enrollment and data collection; ensure SOPs are followed.

  • Manage multiple datasets, create analytic data files, and conduct descriptive analyses.

  • Conduct literature searches to provide background information. Abstract and index information based on knowledge of subject matter.

  • Report results of descriptive analyses in the forms of tables and graphs and communicate findings to the research team; present data at meetings.

  • Assist with research reporting and dissemination, including writing of progress reports, policy briefs, scientific manuscripts, and preparation of presentations for diverse audiences.

  • Perform administrative duties, including submission of procurement requests, coordination and maintenance of contracts and data use agreements, work with finance office to manage study budgets, scheduling of meetings, and assistance formatting manuscripts in accordance with journal submission guidelines.

  • Perform related work as required.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for food and nutrition policy issues, particularly the intersection of nutrition/dietary quality and sustainability/climate change.

  • Understanding of basic concepts in public health nutrition, food policies, food systems.

  • Professional or academic public health research experience.

  • Some experience in quantitative data analysis, including use of relevant statistical software such as Stata, R, or similar.

  • Some experience in qualitative data analysis, including use of relevant software such as NVivo, Atlas.ti, or similar.

  • Proficiency in the use of common software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.

  • Ability to work well with other professionals with minimal supervision in a self-directed fashion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. Related Master's preferred.

  • Five years related experience.

  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or advanced Degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatics, quantitative methodology, public policy, nutrition, or social and behavioral sciences or related field from an accredited college or university.

  • Prior experience working on research studies related to food and nutrition.

Starting Salary Range: $47,500 - $83,300 Annually ($77,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
