Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland

The Department of Epidemiology seeks a Research Assistant who will assist the Principal Investigators and Project Director by providing administrative and coordination support for the Data Analysis and Coordination Center (DACC) for a multi-site HIV epidemiological study.

The Research Assistant will support research data collection and management activities as part of a data coordinating center for a multi-site cohort study.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reports to Research Program Manager and Study PI for a large multisite observational study in managing outcomes-related processes for the DACC in online systems, creating reports, and distributing documents.

  • Administrative management of study Working Groups: updating participant/distribution lists (in email and on website), distribution of agendas and call notices, scheduling of conference calls.

  • Maintenance of study personnel directory.

  • Scheduling of ad hoc conference calls and study meetings via Doodle poll or Google survey.

  • Coordination of Executive Committee conference calls: Soliciting for agenda items, taking conference call minutes.

  • Tracking of study documentation: IRB approvals, Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Data Use Agreements (DUAs), lab certifications, registry match data.

  • Arrange study meetings for JHU investigators including scheduling and arranging for meeting space.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • Identifies and reports site issues to managers.

  • Working knowledge of PC operations and software applications such as MS Windows, Excel, and Word required. Ability to learn new database and software applications. Ability to follow multiple, detailed directions of various protocols. Knowledge of medical terminology highly desired.

  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks, with the ability to prioritize and organize communications and reports, meet deadlines, and understand and appreciate the tasks and processes required. Ability to work well and communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and an ability to work with a team of research managers. Good problem-solving skills, including organizing and investigating possible solutions and presenting them to the team for discussion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years related work experience.

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday: 9 am – 5 pm
