Johns Hopkins University Laboratory Technician in Baltimore, Maryland
The department of Environmental Health and Engineering is seeking a L aboratory Technician in the lab, who will be focusing on the development of Alternatives to Animal Testing. The main area of the research in the laboratory is neurotoxicity and developmental neurotoxicity with link to autism and neurodegeneration. The research is focused on in vitro methods entirely. In particular: development of in vitro 3D brain organotypic cultures (brain organoids), iPSC culture, metabolomics, toxicity testing in brain organoids. International environment.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
The applicant will be responsible for general maintenance of the laboratory.
Performing cell culture work.
Routinely check and order laboratory supplies.
Performing laboratory safety evaluations.
Maintaining laboratory space, equipment and inventory in an appropriate and professional manner.
The applicant will be working close with PhD and Postdocs in the lab by tracking care of the iPSC, neuroprogenitor and 3D brain organoid cultures, performing immunohistochemistry, RNA isolation and Real-Time PCRs.
Basic knowledge on cloning techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 is desirable.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or graduation equivalent with some science coursework.
Training Certificate from Technical Institute preferred.
Experience in basic laboratory procedures required. Certificate from technical institute or internship experience preferred.

Starting Salary Range: Min $15.25 - Max $23.00 HRLY ($43,160 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
